Background
Pavel is a cossack, sent into battle during the Napoleonic Wars. At the Battle of Tarutino in 1812, Pavel went MIA and their equipment and spare uniform were sent back to their family for burial. Their grave was subsequently robbed two years later, with Viola Storch, his old 'friend', as the primary suspect.
Note: "I think we've found the divergence point. Someone saved Pavel's life and created the time fracture, and he wandered into Oakhurst. Whatever happened there, he escaped and made it back to VS' hometown. This may be our best clue to why the Storch family has ended up at the center of these tangled time-threads.
